Is XTB regulated?
Yes, XTB holds 6 regulatory licences in our records, with 3 of its 6 licence records read first-hand on the regulators' own registers (last read 2026-09-09). That includes tier-1 oversight from FCA and KNF. Regulation is entity-specific: your protections depend on which XTB legal entity onboards you, not on the brand.

Every licence, with what we found on the register
We mark a licence verified only after reading it on the regulator's own register or in a regulator-authored publication. Everything else stays visibly open.

Notes from our checks
- FCA 522157: The FCA's own clone-firm warning names the genuine authorised firm — XTB Limited, FRN 522157, One Canada Square, London — regulator-authored confirmation (same route as Axi/ASIC). The register app itself still blocks automation, but the API confirms it directly. Re-read 2026-09-09 direct from the FCA Register API (Firm/522157): 'XTB Limited', status 'Authorised'.
- KNF DDM-M-4021-57-1/2005: KNF's register lists XTB S.A. (formerly X-Trade Brokers DM S.A., name change shown struck through) with authorisation date 08-11-2005 — but displays no decision-reference string, so the DDM-M-4021-57-1/2005 number remains XTB's own citation. Register records load via client-side JS; 2026-08-25 reading came from a captured copy of the register page (dated 2025-03-07).
- CySEC 169/12: Read first-hand on the CySEC register (re-checked 2026-08-25): XTB Ltd (formerly DUB Investments Ltd), licence 169/12 dated 18/04/2012, company reg 296794; EU/EEA passporting with Czech and Romanian branches.
- DFSA F006316: Was wrongly F003484 (that is XM's). Register content (via index; direct fetch 403s to automation): Category 3A, licensed 08-Jul-2021, retail endorsement, DIFC Dubai.
- FSC 6442514: Belize FSC's own warning notice (2 Mar 2022) confirms 'XTB International (a regulated entity in Belize)' while flagging an impersonator using fraudulent licence IFSC/185 — but states no licence number. The LicenSys register is a JS app closed to automation and secondary sources conflict (6442514 / 000302/35 / 000302/185); the number shown is XTB's consistent self-disclosure.
- CMF 216: Read first-hand on Chile's CMF register: XTB Agente de Valores SpA, RUT 76690832-2, Agente de Valores registration 216, status VIGENTE (active), registered 11/02/2025. Securities-agent licence — product scope for CFDs not stated on the register.
Which XTB entity would onboard you?
The brand is not the counterparty. The legal entity on your client agreement sets your regulator, compensation cover, leverage cap and terms.

What the licences actually give you
Three protections worth checking by name. Any of them can be missing even when a broker is licensed somewhere.
| Compensation scheme | FSCS up to £85,000 (UK clients) |
| Segregated client fundsSegregated fundsClient money held in bank accounts kept separate from the broker's own funds, so it isn't used to run the business and is easier to return if the firm fails. | Yes, per the broker's disclosures |
| Negative-balance protectionNegative-balance protectionA safeguard that stops your account going below zero, so you can't end up owing the broker more than you deposited. Mandatory for retail clients in some regions. | Yes, for retail clients where the regulator requires it |
| UK entity (retail) | 30:1 |
| EU entity (retail) | 30:1 |
| International / offshore entity | 30:1 |
Regulator actions and notices on record
Stated neutrally, each with its official source. We never publish an unsourced regulatory-history claim.
- 2025-06·FCA (United Kingdom)
FCA warning about 'XTB Online' (xtbonline.com), an unauthorised operation that may be a clone of, or falsely claim association with, the genuine FCA-authorised XTB Limited (FRN 522157) — a warning about impersonators, not an action against XTB.
Official source - 2018-09·KNF (Poland)
KNF fined X-Trade Brokers DM S.A. (now XTB S.A.) PLN 9.9m for asymmetric order-execution practices between January 2014 and May 2015 (accepting broker-favourable price slippage while rejecting client-favourable slippage above thresholds). XTB's final appeal was dismissed by Poland's Supreme Administrative Court on 28 February 2023, upholding the fine.

Verify these licences in five minutes
Never take a licence claim from a broker page, or from us, without reading the register.
- 1. Note the exact legal entity and licence number from the table above, or from the client agreement you would sign.
- 2.Open the regulator's own register from the links below, never from a link the broker hands you, and search that number.
- 3. Match the entity name and number exactly, check the status is active or authorised, and look for a clone-firm warning naming the brand.

XTB onboards clients through 6 legal entities in our map (United Kingdom, Poland (EU/EEA), United Arab Emirates (DIFC), Cyprus (EU/EEA), Belize and Chile). Which one applies depends on your country of residence and is named on your client agreement at signup. Use the entity checker to see the likely match for your country, then confirm it on the agreement before depositing.
Does XTB have investor compensation?
FSCS up to £85,000 (UK clients). Compensation schemes pay out only if the firm itself fails and cannot return client money; they never cover trading losses, and they apply only to clients of the specific licensed entity, not to every XTB client worldwide.
Has the FCA published a warning naming XTB?
Not in the warnings we hold (FCA clone-firm and unauthorised-firm warnings from mid-2026 onwards, refreshed weekly). Absence is not clearance: search the FCA warning list for the brand and any name a caller gives you.
Has XTB been fined or warned by a regulator?
