We corrected a licence record for XTB after checking the official register — details in our public corrections log.
- 2018-09 · KNF (Poland): KNF fined X-Trade Brokers DM S.A. (now XTB S.A.) PLN 9.9m for asymmetric order-execution practices between January 2014 and May 2015 (accepting broker-favourable price slippage while rejecting client-favourable slippage above thresholds). XTB's final appeal was dismissed by Poland's Supreme Administrative Court on 28 February 2023, upholding the fine. official source
- 2025-06 · FCA (United Kingdom): FCA warning about 'XTB Online' (xtbonline.com), an unauthorised operation that may be a clone of, or falsely claim association with, the genuine FCA-authorised XTB Limited (FRN 522157) — a warning about impersonators, not an action against XTB. official source

Our full read
XTB is what happens when a broker bets everything on its own platform and mostly wins. There is no MetaTrader here at all — the help centre states plainly that MT4 and MT5 aren't offered — and for once that's a confident product decision rather than a gap: xStation 5 is fast, legible, and friendlier to investors than any MetaTrader skin. The result is a broker that suits people who want real stocks and ETFs alongside CFDs, under heavyweight regulation, without pretending to be a raw-spread scalper's shop. Everything below was verified against XTB's own documents and the regulators' registers this week.
The commission-free threshold, precisely
Real stock and ETF investing is commission-free up to €100,000 of cumulative monthly turnover; above that, 0.2% (minimum €10) applies for the rest of the month. That's from the official fee table dated 14 March 2026 — newer than the January PDF search engines still surface. For most retail investors the threshold is effectively "free"; active six-figure-a-month traders should do the maths.
An inactivity fee with two conditions, not one
XTB charges €10/month only when both conditions hold: no position opened or closed for 365 days, and no deposit in the last 90 days — with ISA accounts exempt and no fee ever charged while a position is open. Ranking reviews routinely mangle this into an "or", quote "$11", or invent waivers; the full breakdown cites the table line by line. One trade stops the fee instantly.
Withdrawals: which entity you're with decides
The EU and UK entities show withdrawals at zero with no minimum. XTB International — the Belize entity that onboards most clients outside Europe — charges on small withdrawals (around USD 30 below roughly USD 50). XTB's own EU help answer says simply "free", which is true only for Europeans; our entity decoder shows which company would onboard you before you rely on either answer. Worth knowing too: from March 2026 the Belize entity narrowed its accepted countries to a short named list, so availability outside the EU/UK is tighter than older reviews suggest.
Regulation: strong, with one disclosed scar
The licence set is genuinely heavyweight — Poland's KNF (the group is Warsaw-listed), the UK's FCA (522157, status Authorised — read via the regulator's official API), CySEC in Cyprus, Dubai's DFSA, and a register-verified securities agent in Chile — with the Belize entity as the offshore tail we track like any other. The scar: in 2018 KNF fined the firm PLN 9.9 million over 2014–15 order-execution practices, and Poland's Supreme Administrative Court upheld it on final appeal in 2023. That's historic, disclosed in our regulatory-history section, and priced into our reputation score — a settled fine with a paper trail is exactly the kind of thing an honest review states and moves past.
The loss disclosure, verbatim
XTB's EU sites disclose that 77% of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs with the provider (the UK site shows 74%). We show those figures with every referral. The commission-free stock side of XTB carries no leverage; the CFD side is where those numbers live — the distinction matters more here than at most brokers, because XTB genuinely serves both audiences.
Interest, and other quiet positives
Uninvested cash earns interest (published UK rates around 4% on GBP at our last check; EU branches disclose a variable range) — rare enough among CFD-era brokers to mention. Minimum deposit is zero, the demo is unlimited, and the fee documents are dated and public, which made our verification unusually painless. Brokers that make checking easy tend to be the ones that survive checking.
Who it suits
Investors and swing traders who want real equities plus CFDs in one clean platform, under EU/UK-grade regulation — especially anyone who'd rather never see MetaTrader again. Not for MT4 EA runners (nothing to run them on), not for raw-spread scalpers, and non-European clients should read the entity section twice before assuming the European version of the deal applies to them.
Pros
- Publicly-listed and well-regulated (FCA, KNF), with strong transparency
- Commission-free real stock and ETF investing up to €100,000 monthly turnover
- Excellent proprietary xStation 5 platform; interest paid on uninvested cash
Cons
- No MT4/MT5 or copy trading
- Inactivity fee after 12 idle months; CFD/crypto products still carry high risk
- Not available in many countries — US, Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, India, and new Brazilian accounts since late 2025

Complaints & track record
A publicly-listed, well-regulated multi-asset broker with an excellent in-house platform and commission-free real stock investing. A strong pick for investors as well as CFD traders. Poland's KNF fined the firm PLN 9.9m in 2018 over 2014–15 order-execution practices (upheld on final appeal in 2023) — see the regulatory history.
