Not authorised for the UK
The FCA has not authorised this firm for UK business and says it may be targeting UK residents. That is a statement about UK authorisation, not a verdict on the brand worldwide: IC Markets may be licensed by other regulators, and our regulation page shows every licence we have read on the registers with its status. For a UK resident the practical point is fixed, though: no FCA protections, no FSCS cover and no Financial Ombudsman route apply.
- 1. Open the FCA register yourself and search the firm name; compare the contact details there with the ones you were given.
- 2. Read the IC Markets regulation page to see which legal entity would onboard you and what it protects.
- 3. If you have paid money, contact your bank first, then report to the FCA from the warning page.
Common questions
Is IC Markets Global (https:/ and https://www.ic.com/en/) regulated by the FCA?
No. The FCA's warning of 1 October 2024 states the firm is not authorised by the FCA and may be targeting people in the UK. IC Markets may hold licences in other jurisdictions; our regulation page lists every licence we have checked on the registers.
Does this warning mean IC Markets is a scam?
Not on its own. The warning says the brand is not authorised for UK business. Some such firms are licensed elsewhere and simply not permitted in the UK; a UK resident dealing with them has no FCA protections, no FSCS cover and no ombudsman route. Check which legal entity would onboard you and what licence it holds before depositing.
What should I do if I have already sent money?
Contact your bank or card provider immediately and ask about recalling the payment or a chargeback, report the firm to the FCA using the link on the warning page, and keep every message and receipt. Be wary of anyone who then contacts you offering to recover the money for a fee.
