Is ActivTrades regulated?

Our ActivTrades evidence log contains 3 regulatory records, with 2 of its 3 findings confirmed against regulator-authored sources (last read 2026-10-26). Records can include historical corrections and limited-scope authorisations; they are not a count of current trading licences. That includes tier-1 oversight from FCA. The UK website names Activtrades Plc and FCA 434413. The EU website names ActivMarkets – Empresa de Investimento, S.A. and CMVM 433; the licence number remains pending direct regulator confirmation. These are separate companies. The referral's company allocation has not been confirmed country by country, and a group licence does not determine your account terms.

Verified means we read the stated finding in a regulator-authored source. Where no number is published, only the entity is confirmed. Historical records do not establish current authorisation.

Notes from our checks

  • FCA 434413: FCA-authored notice dated 24 May 2023, re-read first-hand on 26 October 2026, names Activtrades Plc and FRN 434413 as the genuine authorised firm being impersonated. Its warning concerns the unrelated Robo-investor clone. The live firm's detailed register permissions did not load in this read; this notice does not establish current customer eligibility or the company used by Clarytrade's affiliate route.
  • CMVM 433: CySEC's official Member State cross-border register, read first-hand on 26 October 2026, names ActivMarkets – Empresa de Investimento, S.A., Portugal, with CMVM as the competent authority. It does not print 433. That number is disclosed on ActivTrades' EU legal notice; the CMVM record was inaccessible, so number verification remains pending. This is not a CySEC investment-firm licence, and neither the listing nor the broker disclosure establishes every country's retail or affiliate eligibility.
  • CSSF : Historical finding only: CSSF's 3 April 2025 notice, re-read first-hand on 26 October 2026, states that the Luxembourg company ceased activities on 1 January 2024 and was removed from CSSF's authorised list on 18 October 2024. This verifies removal, not a current licence. The notice states that cessation was unrelated to the administrative sanction it records. This company is not included in the current entity resolver or active regulator list.
Entity check

Which ActivTrades entity would onboard you?

The brand is not the counterparty. The legal entity on your client agreement sets your regulator, compensation cover, leverage cap and terms.

Protections

What the licences actually give you

Three protections worth checking by name. Any of them can be missing even when a broker is licensed somewhere.

Compensation schemeCompensation eligibility and limits must be checked for the contracting company and client classification. The referral does not establish that a particular UK or EU scheme applies to your account; no group-wide compensation cover is asserted.
Segregated client fundsSegregated fundsClient money held in bank accounts kept separate from the broker's own funds, so it isn't used to run the business and is easier to return if the firm fails. The EU client-funds page says client accounts are segregated from company funds (read 26 October 2026). This is a broker statement, not our inspection of banking arrangements. Confirm the client-money terms of the company on your agreement; another branch's terms are not established here.
Negative-balance protectionNegative-balance protectionA safeguard that stops your account going below zero, so you can't end up owing the broker more than you deposited. Mandatory for retail clients in some regions. The UK and EU individual-account pages describe negative-balance protection for retail clients. This does not establish the terms of professional accounts or other branches. Confirm your classification and the applicable agreement.
The broker's own published loss figure: “UK and EU entitiesUntil 31 October 2026: 69%-72% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. From 1 November 2026: 70%-73% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.” How this compares across brokers.

  • 2011-03-15·FSA (UK; historical)

The FSA imposed an £85,750 penalty for client-money control failings in 2009–2010. Its notice records no resulting client losses, cooperation and significant remedial work. This is a historical finding, not an allegation about current operations.

FCA warning list

FCA warnings naming ActivTrades

Read weekly from the FCA's own pages. A clone warning names the genuine firm being impersonated and protects it; an unauthorised-firm warning says the brand is not authorised for UK business.

Do it yourself

Verify these licences in five minutes

Never take a licence claim from a broker page, or from us, without reading the register.

  1. 1. Note the exact legal entity and licence number from the table above, or from the client agreement you would sign.
  2. 2.Open the regulator's own register from the links below, never from a link the broker hands you, and search that number.
  3. 3. Match the entity name and number exactly, check the status is active or authorised, and look for a clone-firm warning naming the brand.

ActivTrades regulation: common questions

Is ActivTrades regulated by the FCA?

Yes. Activtrades Plc holds FCA reference 434413. Our check: verified on the register, last read 2026-10-26. Only clients onboarded by that UK entity get FCA protections such as FSCS cover; other ActivTrades entities do not carry them.

Is ActivTrades regulated by CMVM?

ActivMarkets – Empresa de Investimento, S.A. is recorded with CMVM licence 433 (Portugal, tier-2). Our check: pending a register read, last read 2026-10-26.

Which ActivTrades entity would I be onboarded by?

Our map lists 2 ActivTrades legal entities (United Kingdom and Portugal (EU)). A listing does not establish retail account availability: consultation or introduction entities and institutional-only firms are not retail trading-account routes. Which company applies depends on your country and client agreement. Use the entity checker for the likely match, then confirm it before depositing.

Does ActivTrades have investor compensation?

Compensation eligibility and limits must be checked for the contracting company and client classification. The referral does not establish that a particular UK or EU scheme applies to your account; no group-wide compensation cover is asserted.

Has the FCA published a warning naming ActivTrades?

Yes. 1 FCA clone-firm warning names ActivTrades's genuine authorised entity as the firm being impersonated, most recently on 2023-05-24 — a warning about fraudsters, not about ActivTrades. Each warning is listed on this page with a link to the FCA's own text.

Has ActivTrades been fined or warned by a regulator?

Our log holds 1 sourced regulator note for ActivTrades, the most recent dated 2011-03-15 (FSA (UK; historical)). Each is listed on this page with a link to the official source.

Risk warning. CFDs and leveraged products are complex and high-risk. In the broker disclosures we track, 65% to 81% of retail investor accounts lose money trading CFDs (figures by entity, read September 2026). Whether losses can exceed your deposit depends on the entity that onboards you: negative-balance protection is mandatory for retail clients under FCA, ESMA and ASIC rules, not at every offshore entity. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
